Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

In conjunction with Connections mission to support people with disabilities throughout the community, this position is responsible for providing medical training and nursing support to Connections three program areas. 

SPECIFICATIONS: This position requires the necessary degree resulting in the following qualifications; Licensed Practical Nursing Degree and a minimum of 2 years practical experience.

Preference will be given to those with experience in the Human Service field working with people with disabilities. Experience with training/teaching preferred.

MN and ND Nursing License required. Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and possess a professional & respectful demeanor

Must have strong attention to detail and organization, and the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines. Must be able to maintain confidential information Must demonstrate effective written and oral skills Must submit to and clear a background check as required by the Department of Human Services.

Must possess a current Minnesota license in good standing with the state of Minnesota Must be able to communicate receptively and expressively in English. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurability unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting/carrying occasionally greater than 50 pounds at a time. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met. Must be able to implement Therapeutic Intervention Techniques.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

SCHEDULE: Full time- 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible and vary with a rotating on call schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (to be done in conjunction with and as required by MN Statutes for the purposes of agency licensure):

 
  • Conduct staff training as required by MN Statutes for the purposes of agency licensure.
  • Conduct the agency medication administration course in accordance with all guidelines set forth by the Minnesota DHS Statutes.
  • Conduct onsite training classes as directed for example on infection control, Hoyer lift, safe lifting.
  • Complete Vulnerable Adult training annually and all other required agency trainings.
  • Oversee current documentation for client medication to include use and side effects.
  • Provide training to employees on client specific needs Provide nursing assessments when necessary.
  • Oversight of agency standing order supply and all first aid kit supplies within agency and any sites as directed.
  • Monitors Medication Administration Records Review Incident Reports and Seizure reports as needed.
  • Attend agency meetings as required Provide consultation as necessary Perform other duties as assigned.
